I love baked beans, and I really love baked beans made in the oven because it gets that great caramelization!
They are really easy to make as well, I just doctor up a can of Bushes Home-style baked beans.
First grab a medium sized bowl and pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. Open your can of beans and add it to the bowl and mix in:
¾ cup of ketchup
¼ cup brown sugar (you can adjust this depending on how sweet you like your beans)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Two pinches of black pepper
1/2 teaspoons onion powder
1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
Mix all of your ingredients together and add to a pre-greased cooking dish. You want your beans to be spread out pretty well but they need to be about 2 inches thick at least or they will dry out. After you add, your beans to your dish slice up bacon and add it to the top of your beans raw. I normally cover the entire pan because well, I love bacon and everything is better with bacon. Last time I made these I just so happened to have maple bacon and used that, it was fantastic! If you aren’t a huge fan of super sweet beans though I would recommend just using regular.
Once your oven is preheated cook for at least an hour and a half, or until the bacon cooks and caramelizes.
Enjoy!
