My husband loves sandwiches, they are his favorite food group, and he doesn’t discriminate what kind. One of my favorites is a French dip sandwich. I was at the store the other day trying to figure out dinner, it was getting late and I didn’t want to deal with a big mess or a complicated dinner so I made French dips! You have to make absolutely nothing from scratch, you basically just get the ingredients and put it all together.
Ingredients
1 lb of roast beef from your deli, thin cut
4.5 cups of water (you are going to have a lot of Au Jus leftover but you can use it and make them again!)
2 packages of McCormick Au Jus mix (or whatever brand you prefer)
Soft sub buns
Provolone cheese
Get a soup pot and add your water (make sure the water is cool) and with a whisk mix in your Au Jus seasoning packets, I use less water then what is instructed on the pack because I like it to have a lot of flavor. Once your seasoning is dissolved turn on your heat and bring to a boil, once it gets to heat bring down to a simmer and add in your beef. I let it simmer for around 10-15 minutes. I then heat my buns in the microwave for about 20 seconds, this gets them warm so they won’t crack when you close it up and makes them a little fluffy. Put a few slices of cheese on your bun and take tongs to add on a good helping of your beef, then in a separate bowl ladle in some of your au jus for dipping!!
That’s it! It is really good…as a matter of fact, I wouldn’t mind having it for dinner again tonight…
ENJOY!!
REMEMBER TO TASTE AS YOU MAKE!!
